March 17th, 2020
AMI Center Community,
These are unprecedented times. COVID-19 is a global pandemic and a national emergency, and nobody is certain what the days ahead hold.
It’s hard to imagine more difficult circumstances for operating The Center. We are a small community organization and a Non-Profit. We bring people together – from all backgrounds and circumstances – and create personal connections that change lives through membership and programs. We are the communities gathering place!
But the nature of this virus, and how it spreads, presents significant challenges for The Center.
Today, following updated recommendations from the CDC, Trump administration, Governor DeSantis, and our state and local health departments, we are temporarily suspending all group fitness classes, sports, and all wellness programs/activities at our facility. This is effective at 5 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 17th, until further notice.
At this time, our Fitness Facility and our Spring Break Camp will continue to be offered in a very limited capacity.
Since my last email, the Trump administration announced new mass gatherings guidance recommending that organizers cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 10 people or more. As of today at 5 p.m., Governor DeSantis has suspended all Florida bars and nightclubs for 30 days and mandated that all restaurants limit their capacity by 50%. We ask our members to adhere to these new guidelines with no groups larger than 10 and a distance of six feet between all parties.
We realize the impact of these new protocols and closings will be felt by many, but let’s continue to do all we can to prevent community spread whenever possible.
During our limited capacity, we will actively work with local officials to keep our facilities available as needed to local government and to coordinate with health care or other local organizations. It is our strong intention to resume normal Center operations as soon as possible.
We know how much our membership and wellness activities and the programs we deliver mean to you and your family – and how important they are to overall community health.
On behalf of everyone in our AMI Community, I ask that you remain a part of The Center and continue to support us during this unprecedented situation. The significant impact we have on individuals, children, families and those who need us most is dependent on our program and membership fees. Your membership fees enable The Center to help the community, support our employees and remain strong through these extraordinary circumstances. We hope that this suspension in services will be brief.
Our website is the best place to stay updated on The Center, Schedules, and Programs. Check our site often for the latest information at www.CenterAMI.org
We are committed to working safely and confidently as we move through and emerge from this health crisis together.
Thank you for your continued support, your patience and your trust. Your participation and engagement make The Center and AMI what it is. The Center is not just a facility. It is The Communities Gathering Place.
Best Regards,
Christopher M. Culhane
