Melanie was born and raised in the Tampa Bay area where she was involved in community programs and arts organizations. After graduating from high school, she moved to Tallahassee, FL to attend Florida State University where she earned her A.A. with additional coursework toward Sociology. Melanie volunteered as a student research intern with the FSU Institute of Family Violence Studies and was honored to participate in FSU’s College of Social Work Human Rights Study Abroad summer semester with Charles University in the Czech Republic. During her time living in Tallahassee, Melanie continued a lifetime of dance as both a Soloist ballet dancer and dance teacher with The Tallahassee Ballet. In 2016, Melanie moved to the beautiful Pittsburgh, PA where she continued to teach ballet as she completed her B.A. in Behavioral Sciences from Point Park University. She recently began a new chapter and moved back to a beloved home at one of her favorite places on earth: Anna Maria Island.
When not at The Center, she may be in her garden, cooking or baking, visiting with friends or family, practicing yoga, walking or reading on the beach, volunteering with The Island Players, or out on an adventure! She is grateful and glad to be living near family again and thrilled and loves to be working at the community center.
