Brenda was born and raised in the Boston area, and has been residing in Florida for over 18 years, where she is the current owner/president of Island Fitness since 2008.
She has been an athlete all her life. At Malden High School, as a freshman, she played varsity field hockey, basketball, and softball all 4 years. Inducted into the Hall of Fame and having her Field Hockey jersey (#17) retired, Brenda had also received a full scholarship to play Division 1 Field Hockey at the University of New Hampshire. Going into her senior year of College, she made the US Olympic Team, where she had traveled and competed all over the world and earned a spot on the 1996 US Olympic Field Hockey team. After graduating from college, she was the Assistant Field Hockey coach for Boston College, until the US team relocated all the athletes to be full time in Virginia where they trained at Old Dominion University to prepare for the upcoming Olympic Games.
Since athletics has always been a part of her life, she has learned to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle and decided to continue in fitness and look into becoming a Certified Personal Trainer/ Group Fitness Instructor. She loves to workout, eat right, and help people reach their fitness goals. She has been working as a personal trainer/ group fitness instructor for over 18 years, and has a very diverse cliental ranging from athletes, seniors, and anyone in between.
Brenda specializes in sport specific training, balance and core training, flexibility, Active Isolated Stretching, Functional Training, Nutritional and Weight Management programming and Boot Camps. Brenda also specializes in training individuals with lower back, knee & hip problems. Brenda can help individualize a program that works best for the client, along with motivation, and meal management. Brenda will help the client reach their short-term & long-term fitness goals for a Happier and Healthier Life!
